Dubai Chamber Orchestra Winter Concert 2017
2ND FEBRUARY, CMA( GOLD AND DIAMOND PARK) 8PM
The Dubai Chamber Orchestra was founded in order to present a platform to musicians to play and express themselves. On February 2, the DCO is organizing its winter concert at the Center for Musical Arts. The entry to the concert will be free. The programme will include Handel’s Water Music, Haydn’s Farewell Symphony and New Year’s Music by Georgs Pelēcis. Originally played on a piano, New Year’s music by Georgs Pelēcis has been orchestrated by Barnaby. Georgs is a Latvian composer and his work is noted as ‘New Consonant Music’. Worth to hear and seems like it’s written for a chamber orchestra plus piano and harp. This concert is very special for me as this would be the last concert conducted by our very own Barnaby Priest before he leaves Dubai to start the next chapter of his life. It has always been a pleasure to play for Barnaby and I have also had the opportunity to present his own compositions in the past for solo harp, duo – two harps, and duo harp and flute, performed by Canella Duo. It almost feels like an end of an era for the rest of us at the DCO. So, let’s all gather together to celebrate music and to wish Barnaby a life full of music, health and peace ahead.
