CEREMONY OF CAROLS AND SOME ORDINARY CAROLS

It is almost christmas and the Dubai Chamber Choir conducted by Stuart Squire will be performing the classical ‘Ceremony of Carols’ to begin the festive month. The piece called the Ceremony of Carols was originally composed by Benjamin Britten during the world war 2. Almost 22 minutes long, it is a cantata with a total of 11 movements and has the text from ‘The English Galaxy of Shorter Poems.’ The piece begins and ends with the Latin “Hodie Christus natus est,” which is sung in unison, and is filled in between with other poems to describe the Christmas story; Wolcum Yole, Balulalow, Spring Carol, Deo Gracias to name a few. The event would be held at Christ Church, Jebel Ali on 6th December, 7.30 pm. There is free entrance for all and any donations raised would be given to ‘The Mission to Seafarers.’ For more information about the event visit the Facebook page Hope to see you there!
